International Affairs staff members Tom Glynn, Catherine Jo, and Alessandra Durstine recently met with leading health care organizations in Mexico to discuss tobacco control efforts. Several organizations were represented, including the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico, the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The group met with officials from Mexico’s Ministry of Health and tobacco control advocates to discuss initiatives to further Mexico’s tobacco control policies and to counter aggressive tobacco industry marketing throughout the country.
