David Zacks, former National Board Chair, Hiroshi Ichikawa, Japan Cancer Society, Don Gudaitis, Chief Executive Officer, New England Division
In October 2005, New England Division Chief Executive Officer Don Gudaitis visited Tokyo, Japan to participate in the Japan Cancer Society’s Pink Ribbon Walk – an event designed to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. Gudaitis’ visit was also an opportunity to exchange knowledge and share best practices with the Japan Cancer Society, which is one of the largest cancer societies in the world. In meetings with leaders of the Japan Cancer Society, Gudaitis shared best practices for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, the Society's largest public event to combat breast cancer. Launched by the New England Division in 1993, Making Strides has grown into an event that includes walks in nearly 100 cities. The collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the Japan Cancer Society provided a unique opportunity for both organizations to strengthen efforts in the fight against breast cancer.
